This paper has been developed to evaluate a restaurant on the basis of its quality of food, ambiance or décor of the restaurant, politeness of staff, cleanliness, and price. For the purpose of evaluating a restaurant, one of the famous restaurants 1770 House restaurant has been selected. The selected restaurant will be evaluated based on the above-stated criteria in order to analyze the performance and effectiveness of the service of the restaurant. There are different types of restaurants that use different strategies to attract a large number of customers. The attractiveness of restaurants significantly determined by the above-stated factors and hence it is very important to focus on these factors to improve the performance and productivity of the restaurant.
Quality of food
Quality of food plays a very significant role in determining the attractiveness of the restaurant. Almost every customer of the restaurant considers the quality of food while deciding to visit the restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If the customer of the restaurant finds that the restaurant provides high-quality food, they will visit and revisit the restaurant. On the other hand, if they find the quality of the food in the restaurant is not good, they will choose another restaurant (Lesser et al., 2017). In terms of quality of food, the 1770 House is very good. It provides high-quality food. But on the other hand, it has a limited number of food items or its menu contains a limited number of foods that sometimes disappoint its customers. Apart from this, the customer can also not bring food from outside (that is not available in the restaurant) into the restaurant to eat. It also disappoints the customer of the restaurant. Thus, 1770 House has an opportunity to improve its performance by increasing the number of foods it offers to the customer. As the restaurant will increase the number of foods, the customer will not search for food outside. It will increase the level of customer satisfaction as well which will boost the customer base of the organization.
Ambiance or décor of the restaurant
Ambiance or décor of the restaurant is also one of the significant determinants of the attractiveness of the restaurant. Most of the customers focus on ambiance over the quality of food while making a decision to visit a restaurant. It does not mean they can prefer bad quality food. The ambiance and atmosphere of the 1770 House are very nice. The organization has focused on providing a different atmosphere to each sitting. The ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant provide a home-like feeling in which the customer can enjoy their food to the fullest (Pangkey et al., 2017). The customer of the restaurant enjoys good music at pleasant volume as well as good tunes. There is a fireplace in the Tavern that increases the attractiveness of the restaurant. Lighting, as well as artwork in the restaurant, also help in attracting customer. The restaurant is also spacious that creates comfort for every customer visiting the restaurant. It is also found that the restaurant is so spacious that the customer can even feel comfortable in romance with their partners. Thus, in terms of ambiance and atmosphere, the performance of the restaurant is very good.
Politeness of staff
The politeness of staff is also considered as one of the significant determinants of the effectiveness of the restaurant. If the staff of the restaurant are polite and behave in a good manner, the customer considers the restaurant while planning to go out to have some food. The behavior of the staff does not only affect the mindset of the customer to visit the restaurant but it also affects the attractiveness of the restaurant (Wang et al., 2018). For example, if the behavior of the staff is not good, the customer will not consider the visit the restaurant even if the quality of food and ambiance is good. The behavior of the staff of the 1770 House is quite good. They are customer-oriented. They focus on the needs and demands of the customer and serve them in a good manner. They attend the customer as soon as the customer enters the restaurant with greeting according to the day time. They take the order and deliver the food within the stated time. The staff of the restaurant is quite attentive and responsive that increases the attractiveness of the restaurant. The behavior of the staff of the restaurant induces the customer to revisit the restaurant.
Cleanliness
This is also one of the significant factors that affect the attractiveness of the restaurant. Cleanliness determines the level of hygiene of the restaurant. Most of the customers visit only such restaurant they believe hygienic. If a restaurant focuses on cleanliness effectively, it would be considered hygienic and hence the customer will visit the restaurant. 1770 House considerably focuses on cleanliness and hygiene. The restaurant has staff who take care of the cleanliness and hygiene of the restaurant. The sitting, reception, kitchen, and outdoor areas of the restaurant are kept neat and clean round the clock. As soon as a customer leaves the restaurant, the staff cleans the used table so that another customer can easily occupy the seat. It increases the level of satisfaction of the customer.
Price
Price is something that significantly determines the buying behavior of the customer. If the customer thinks that the price is high, he/she would prefer to purchase the good or service of the competitor. However, some of the customers do not consider the price of the product or service if they are getting high-quality products or services (Yang et al., 2017). 1770 House charges a high price for its food that is one of the factors that can demotivate the customer to visit the restaurant. Charging high prices can only attract high-income people and hence the customer base of the restaurant will reduce significantly. Hence, the restaurant should focus on its pricing strategy in order to increase its customer base.
Conclusion
From the above analysis, it can be concluded that the 1770 House is very effective and attractive. The ambiance and atmosphere are nice that can attract a large number of customers. Similarly, the quality of the food is very good. The behavior of the staff and cleanliness of the restaurant also increase the attractiveness of the restaurant. However, it should focus on its limited menu and add some food on its list to attract more customers. The pricing strategy should also be considered by the hotel to increase its customer base.
