What two hormones are the backbone to the stress response?

Question:- What two hormones are the backbone to the stress response?

Answer

Cortisol – This hormone is produced from adrenal glands upon stress. Cortisol facilitates the conversion of energy reserves, enhances blood pressure and heart rate as well as inhibits non-essential operations like digestion or reproduction. It is known as the “stress hormone.”

Adrenaline (epinephrine) – This hormone is released from the adrenal medulla under acute emergency condition. The fight-or-flight response is activated by adrenaline, which stimulates respiration rate as well as heart and blood pressure rates to prepare the body for upcoming threat.

Basically, long-term stress reaction is triggered by cortisol which acts as the primary hormone; adrenaline mediates an acute immediate response to a stimulus. The dynamic relationship between these two hormones ensures that the body responds accordingly to physical and psychological demands. They are indeed the pillars of the elaborate neuroendocrine system that enables adaptation to and resistance against stress.
