The scandal of the Mystic Monk Coffee concerned the founder of a Carmelite monastery Mystic Monk Coffee in Wyoming, Father Daniel Mary. In 2002, Father Daniel Mary wished to enlarge his monastery and coffee roasting business. He started a money-raising drive and requested donations for purchasing the land and building a new monastery. But, it was later discovered that he was spending parts of the donated money to finance a luxurious way of life for himself. This comprised of purchasing valuable jewelry and going on costly holidays. A number of donors were deceived that their donations were only used for the monastery (Jhonson, 2023). The scandal made people question the integrity of Father Daniel Mary, and some parts of the Mystic Monk Coffee equity were ruined.
