Which of the following statements regarding muzzleloaders is true?
A. Muzzleloaders are always limited to a single shot
B. Every muzzleloader is designed for modern smokeless powder
C. All muzzleloaders use FFFFG powder as the primer
D. Muzzleloaders are always loaded from the muzzle end
Answer: Muzzleloaders are always loaded from the muzzle end
Muzzleloader firearms earn their name from the fact that they are loaded from the front or ‘muzzle’ part of the gun barrel. These guns differ from the breech-loaded ones that are loaded from the back. The first muzzleloaders were restricted to only one shot before they restart. However, the modern muzzleloaders are outfitted with revolver chambers for many shots. Nevertheless, they are still carried through the muzzle, not breech. Interestingly not all muzzleloaders employ the same type of powder. The most current smokeless powder muzzleloaders are distinguishable from their predecessors which utilized the black powder. There exist different grades of powder – either in a fine-grained structure or granulated for the muzzleloaders. Powder charge and shot capacity may or may not differ depending on the model but all muzzleloaders have one thing in common which is loading from the front. This differentiates them from the breech-loaders, so the statement is correct.
