Heracles who is also called Hercules is a famous hero from the Greek mythology known for his strength and also heroism. Heracles lived his life through many series of challenges and the trials he had to undergo because of the wrath of the goddess Hera who hated him. But Heracles was able to withstand even such trials, frequently breaking the divine commandments and violating the rules in order to defeat the challenges and finish the hero’s labors that he was set.

For example, one of the labors of Hercules was of catching Cerberus, the three-headed dog that guards the Underworld. To succeed in this mission, Heracles had to go to the Underworld itself and face Hades, the god of the dead, what was absolutely impossible. Despite the fact that Hades has forbidden him to take Cerberus along, Heracles has entered the Underworld, struggled with the dog and has brought him back to the land of the living. This shows Heracles rebellious nature to go against the gods and in the process create his own path in the securing the heroic labors . His unyielding nature and bravery in the presence of divine resistance represents a major heroic value of not permitting even the gods to hinder him from the manifesting his fate as a great hero.
