Which of the following statements about sleep deprivation is false ?

a. Sleep deprivation often results in depression-like symptoms.

b. Sleep deprivation can result in decreased mental alertness and cognitive function.

c. Sleep deprivation often results in ADHD.

d. Sleep deprivation is associated with obesity.

Answer: c. Sleep deprivation often results in ADHD.

This statement, in fact, is false. Sleep deprivation is quite different from ADHD’s cause and linking it or as a trigger of something else. ADHD an important neuro-developmental factor with genetic and neural basis that is not born of sleep deprivation solely.

But the points addressed in the above options are also plausible. Lengthy sleep deprivation is known to resemble depression (option a), and to decrease concentration and cognitive impairment (option b). Besides that, only three nights of sleeplessness are sufficient to end up with metabolic issues and obesity in some (option d). While sleep deprivation is necessary for top fitness and health levels that does not mean that not having sleep leads to a disorder like ADHD
