The Great Compromise, otherwise known as the Connecticut Compromise, was an essential compromise that was made during the Constitutional Convention of 1787 while the new U.S. Constitution was being designed. It was solved by the creation of a bicameral National Legislature which had specific and shared responsibilities. The compromise created the House of Representatives, making the number of representatives in each state dependent on the population, and the Senate, where every state has an equally represented two senators. This agreement allowed for both the big and small states to have an active role in debate and shaping the legislative. From this, we got a two- house congress, which we have today
