Which statement describes an atomic nucleus?

1: An atomic nucleus is negatively charged.

2: An atomic nucleus has no electrical charge.

3: An atomic nucleus consists of mostly empty space.

4: An atomic nucleus contains most of the atom’s mass.

Answer. 4: An atomic nucleus contains most of the atom’s mass.

The nucleus is a very compact as it is comprised of protons and neutrons, while all other atoms are made up of electrons. The fragile nucleus, which is significantly smaller, is responsible for most of the atom weight, however. This is attributed to the fact that the protons and neutrons, which are components of nucleus, are very heavy (much heavier than the electrons that orbit around them). The electron orbiting around the protons gives the protons a positive charge which is balanced by the negative charge of the electrons, thereby making the whole atom stable. The nucleus is a truly bulky mass including protons and neutrons strung up in close vicinity, with no significant space in between their structure. That is, this is the breaking-point which is inside the nucleus of the atom which plays a very essential role in most of the nuclear interactions and procedures.
