a. Nerve

b. Epithelial

c. Plasma

d. Connective

Answer: c. Plasma

While there is no true tissue, plasma, in the body, it is one of the vital components of the blood. The main four types of tissue structures that characterize humans include those of epithelial tissues, connective tissues, muscular tissues, and nervous tissues. The epithelial type of tissue is the one that covers the various surfaces of the body, which also line the cavities and others form those of the glands. Supportive connective tissues include fibrous constructions such as bones, cartilages and blood. They aid in the provision of structural strength, warmth and protection of organs. Muscle is where motion is originated. It is divided into three categories namely, skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle tissues. Neural connective tissue creates the basis of brain, spinal cord, and nerves, and it is what communicates information in the body. Plasma, different from the cellular components, is the blood liquid that continues the development of red blood cells and other corpuscles and fragments. Rather than being a specific tissue type itself, it is a cellular medium, which carries various substances, i.e. proteins, electrolytes and nutrients, throughout the body’s organism. Hence, plasma is exceptional and not among many tissue structures which are currently known in man’s body.
