Question:- What is the name of the longest river in Africa?

Answer: The Nile River

Labelled as the longest river in Africa and in the whole wide world, the Nile River is indeed something that every African should be proud of. Extending about 6,650 km, about 4,132 miles this iconic water channel has been central to the growth of civilization for millenniums. The Nile starts from its southernmost source at the Ruwenzori Mountains of Uganda, and it passes through 11 countries and finally meets the Mediterranean Sea in the North. It has two major tributaries: The White Nile from the head of the Great Lakes in central Africa and the Blue Nile from Ethiopia. It has been a flood water that has always been instrumental in sustaining agriculture, especially by bringing silt that fertile along its periphery. This natural event was considered to be significant in that it influenced the culture as well as religion of the ancient Egyptians. Today the Nile remains an essential “river” to millions supplying them with water to use in irrigation, navigation and to generate hydroelectricity as well as habitation for several ecosystems in between.
