Both the doctors and the woman’s husband ensured that Jane is taking rest without providing importance to her opinions that was not same. Gilman’s ideas based on the repressive treatment provided to women were represented in the ending and this also depicted the influence of these issues on the physical and mental health of the women. The symbolic meaning depicted by the ending has mainly highlighted suppressive treatment provided to women during 19th century. The different actions of the doctors and husband of Jane proved to be a major reason behind her increased levels of insanity.
