Resistive elements are the parts of a circuit that oppose the flow of current within them when an electrical current pass through them, thus, the kinetic energy of the electrons in the flow is converted to thermal energy or heat. This heat is then transferred to the metal casing of the toaster and subsequently to the bread slices placed inside toasting or turning brown due to the caramelization process called Maillard’s browning reaction. Such transformation of electrical energy into heat energy is the good that enables the toaster to operate as a device it is intended for toasting bread or any other consumable food item.
