Which of the following pairs is mismatched?

Which of the following pairs is mismatched?

A. Biomass burning – release of carbon dioxide

B. Fossil fuel burning – release of carbon dioxide

C. Nuclear power – radioactive wastes

D. Solar energy – the greenhouse effect

Answer –  D. Solar energy – the greenhouse effect.

Greenhouse effect can be defined as process within which the temperature of Earth can increase after the solar heat is trapped after it is received by the Sun. The heat mainly increases the levels of global warming and this leads to melting ice caps in the polar region. The gases including carbon dioxide and methane increase the global warming levels hugely. Power that is generated from light energy emitted by the sun is solar energy and solar panels are mainly placed for trapping sunlight and further converting it to sources of power. Using solar power is considered to be sustainable and helps to provide electricity to different factories and organizations. Greenhouse effect can be created after accumulation of sunlight and this leads to an increase in temperature levels within the earth. The increase in greenhouse effect is thereby based on production of gases that can provide major levels of contribution towards enhancement of the overall global temperature. The generation of radioactive waste from nuclear power-based plants is considered to be an important source related to the increase in levels of nuclear pollution which leads to death of different organisms present in oceans and rivers within which the materials are discharged. Radioactive waste can have different chemicals that can prove to be harmful for health of the organisms or people who come in contact with them. Solar energy is thereby considered a type of energy that is renewable in nature and has become an alternative based on energy related to fossil fuels.
