Answer: D. to create a racial divide between Americans and Japanese Americans
Executive Order 9066, the document that was signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1942, became the source of controversy, for it gave the power to the authorities to remove and incarcerate around 120,000 Japanese Americans, the numerous of whom were citizens of the United States, during the Second World War. The process was mainly fueled by Americans’ fear and hostility toward the Japanese Americans. It also developed because of the suspicion of the Japanese Americans after Pearl Harbor attack. It was a means for building a rift both physically and psychologically between Japanese American people and the rest of the American population by deporting them away from their homes and by sending them to internment camps or prison-like camps. Such measure, however, was one of the most abominable violation of human freedoms by the government and the shame on America’s history of race-based discrimination
